Research Specialist
Reports to:  Communications Manager 
Liaises with: Director of Communications, Director of Fundraising & Head of Content  
Job location:  Dublin

Contract:  2 year fixed term contract 
 
Job Purpose:  To ensure that Concern’s public engagement work is informed and driven by audience and market insights and to introduce results-based measurement systems across communications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Audience:
• Develop and maintain current audience profiles;
• Identify, define, and understand future audience’s profiles;
• To assist and champion the implementation of an audience led culture;
2. Research:
• Consult with stakeholders to prioritise sources of insight;
• Evaluate and deliver market research needs, through the project management of both qualitative and quantitative research projects;
• Provide market insight to inform the marketing, communications and public engagement context;
• Develop working practices to ensure the application of gathered insight in the delivery of operational plans;
3. Irish Aid Public Engagement
• Implement baseline and periodic quantitative and qualitative research to measure Concern’s Irish Aid Public Engagement programme
4. Digital Analytics
• In cooperation with the digital and content team harness the power of digital analytics including Google Analytics, Hubspot analytics and social media analytics for effective campaign measurement and to guide the development of digital fundraising and engagement.
5. Develop & manage annual research budgets
• Monitor and maintain annual research budgets for Public Affairs & Communications business needs;
Skills and Experience Required:
• Minimum 4  years experience in audience, market or consumer research 
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including drafting questionnaires and presenting insightful research findings 
• Experience in commissioning research from external agencies and procurement tender processes
• Proven expertise in data interpretation and digital analytics, including campaign measurement
• Excellent presentation, communication and administration skills
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
• Confident decision making, adaptability, resourcefulness and the ability to work under pressure
Essential: 
• A relevant third level qualification in market research, the social sciences or communications studies 
• Proven research skills and expertise in data interpretation and presentation
• Strong numerical skills in order to analyse data
• Computer literacy, including advanced skills in Microsoft Office packages 
• Knowledge of the Irish Charity Sector and Concern’s Public Engagement & Fundraising activity

Desirable:
• Experience working in similar roles within the Irish Charity Sector is desirable but not essential.
