Responsibilities
The incumbent will:
-Provide accurate translation/interpretation, as required, from English to Burmese and vice versa,
-Join field missions;
-Produce accurate and verbatim translation of written and oral witness statements from English to Burmese and vice versa;
-Produce accurate and timely written translation of documents from English to Burmese, as required by the coordinator;
-Produce accurate translation of media articles as required by the coordinator;
-Maintain strict security and confidentiality of information; and
-Perform any other tasks, as necessary.
Competencies-Provide accurate translation/interpretation, as required, from English to Burmese and vice versa,
-Join field missions;
-Produce accurate and verbatim translation of written and oral witness statements from English to Burmese and vice versa;
-Produce accurate and timely written translation of documents from English to Burmese, as required by the coordinator;
-Produce accurate translation of media articles as required by the coordinator;
-Maintain strict security and confidentiality of information; and
-Perform any other tasks, as necessary.

- Knowledge and understanding of relevant theories, concepts and approaches;
- Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems.
- Ability to conduct data collection using various methods.
- Conceptual analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis, including familiarity with and experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the Internet, intranet and other databases.
- Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities.
- Shows pride in work and in achievements;
- Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter;

A first level university degree is required. Advanced degree is desirable.
Work Experience
At least five years of professional interpreting/translation experience from and to English and Burmese is required.
Languages
Fluency in English and Burmese is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
