| OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : As part of the WHO Conference Support Team in ASC (Administrative Services and Conferences), the incumbent performs video/audio/webcasting services requested for meetings held in the bigger meeting rooms in UN City. The equipment operated is highly technical and also includes simultaneous interpretation system for 4 languages. The incumbent will also be performing recording and editing duties. | |
| Description of duties: Under the managerial supervision of the Conference Assistant, and as part of the ASC Conference Team, the incumbent performs the following duties in support of conferences and meetings within the UN City: CONFERENCE SUPPORT Operates all AV equipment in the relevant meeting rooms. This includes interpretation system, webcasting, sound and video system to ensure a high level output from the meetings. Provides alternative and viable solutions to problems arising on the spot. Plans and performs regular preventive maintenance of all AV equipment to ensure its functionality. Responsible for calling in external support, if repair is needed and cannot be done by the WHO AV-team. Proposes options in connection with purchase of new conference equipment and obtains comparable quotes from reliable suppliers. Produces and edits recordings of meetings required by users (i.e. WHO and other UN Agencies) Liaises with staff at all levels from WHO and other UN Agencies in context of AV related planning and executing the various events and meetings. Rearranges conference halls and meeting rooms to meet technical and physical requirements of users. Assists with setting up AV equipment for special events taking place outside meeting rooms such as meetings on the various floors of the UN City or in the Regional Director’s special meeting area. PHOTOGRAPHER/CAMERA MAN Assists the official WHO photographer with photographic coverage of WHO meetings and events as required and with staff photographs for passports and visas. Assists with video recording of statements and speeches and performs subsequent editing. OTHER DUTIES Other duties as requested by the ASO (Administrative Service Officer) or the Conference Assistant. | |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | |
| Education: Essential: Secondary education. Several years education in media production or conference support. Desirable: Education in information technology, conference economy and planning or similar. (NB: WHO only considers higher educational qualifications obtained from an accredited institution.) | |
| Skills: Essential: Training in handling and operation of AV technical equipment. Training in audio/visual digital recording/editing and camera operation. Desirable: Specialized training in one or more of the following areas: Web casting technology , Video/Audio conferencing, Conference systems technology, sound production (PA systems / amplifiers ). Competencies required: 1) Communicating in a credible and effective way: Good communication skills are essential when dealing with suppliers and users. 2)Knowing and Managing yourself: The incumbent may be exposed to situations where clear information or direction is not immediately available, or situations of high workload and work pressure, and yet to remain productive. positive and courteous. 3) Producing results: The incumbent will need to produce, in his/her service function, workable solutions that meet clients needs; he/she will need to to take initiative and to take corrective action without being prompted. 4) Fostering integration and teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals. | Experience: Essential: Minimum four years experience in supporting conferencing/video production preferably in varied environments. Desirable: Several years experience in support/maintenance of audiovisual equipment. | |
