Responsibilities
The Information Systems Assistant will perform the following duties: 
•Provide support on software development matters and in the implementation of new software releases by testing computer application systems and programs, using UN established standards for IT technologies and tools; 
•Serve as a team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems from a quality assurance perspective; 
•Independently liaise with users to define and specify requirements and problems; 
•Draft technical and user documentation as well as training materials for deployed computer application systems and provide input and support to technical presentations; 
•Maintain test and functional specifications for computer application systems, programs and procedures developed and/or modified; 
•Provide support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users' offices; perform ongoing reviews with users and developers and respond to users' requests; 
•Draft correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions, and prepare unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports; 
•Keep abreast of developments in the field of quality assurance and propose new acquisitions as appropriate; 
•Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) or the Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters. International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification is required. Relevant additional post-secondary education is an asset.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in software quality assurance or related area is required. Experience in developing Test Automation Framework or designing automated testing suites is required. Experience with Agile development approaches such as SCRUM is required. Experience with S/W CM and build tools such as Microsoft TFS is required. Practical experience and knowledge of Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium or Test Complete is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
